Nanotechnology and basics .doc (Paper Presentation)

Abstract:

Zinc Oxide Nanobelts are semi conducting metal oxides, extremely thin and flat structures dubbed as "Nanobelts", offer significant advantages over other nanostructures such as Nanowires and Carbon Nanotubes that have been extensively studied. Processes for producing carbon nanotubes still cannot be controlled well enough to provide large volumes of high purity, defect-free structures with uniform properties. The Nanohelices get their shape from twisting forces created by a small mismatch between the stripes. Nanorings and Nanosprings are candidates for building implantable sensors for real-time monitoring of such biomedical measures as blood pressure, blood flow rate and stress at the level of single cells. The piezoelectric properties of the new structures could make them useful in detecting and measuring very small fluid flows, tiny strain/stress forces, high-frequency
