A microprocessor is the one which incorporates the functions of the central processing unit (CPU) on a single integrated circuit (IC).It fetches, decodes and executes instructions.
The basic functional blocks of a microprocessor are Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU), an array of registers and a control unit. The microprocessor is identified with the size of data, the ALU of the processor can work with at a time. In general a processor which has an n-bit ALU is called as an n-bit processor.
