A number of trends can be detected in the world of communications. First of all, the number of different devices a person uses to communicate is increasing rapidly. A couple of years ago it was uncommon for people to have more than a PC. Today, people use a handful of devices, from stationary PCs and laptops to PDAs and mobile phones
Another trend of convergence that we can see is between fixed and wireless networks. In order to increase bandwidth, cells are becoming smaller and smaller. We’re moving from macro cells, to micro cells, to Pico cells. New algorithms are being implemented to overcome the high air transmission error frequency. . Wireless is a way of accessing a network or other communication partners i.e., without a wire.
