ABSTRACT:
Automatic segmentation of blood vessels in retinal fundus images plays an important role in the diagnosis of several pathologies. Several morphological features of veins and arteries have diagnostic relevance. In this paper, retinal vessel segmentation using line detection techniques of digital image processing with the application of cellular neural networks (CNN) is presented. The CNN design, which has parallel computation ability, helps in faster computation of results. It is characterized by a virtual template expansion obtained through a multi step operation. It is based on linear space invariant 3*3 templates and can be realized using present chip prototypes like
